World Food Programme (WFP)

The World Food Programme (WFP) supports vulnerable communities in meeting their essential food and nutrition needs through food distributions, including specialized nutritious items, and cash assistance. As stability increases in certain regions, the focus will transition towards assisting refugees and individuals affected by crises in returning to their homes. This shift will prioritize helping these individuals recover their livelihoods. 

Additionally, WFP’s school feeding programs play a crucial role in enhancing children’s nutrition and boosting school attendance in areas grappling with food insecurity. SOS Children’s Villages

SOS Children’s Villages is the largest global organization dedicated to supporting children and young people who lack parental care or are at risk of losing it. The organization focuses on providing a nurturing environment where these children can grow up with the necessary care, protection, and relationships to thrive. By emphasizing the importance of strong, supportive relationships, SOS Children’s Villages aims to empower children to reach their full potential.

International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC)

The ICRC has been actively operating in the Central African Republic (CAR) since 1983, establishing a continuous presence there since 2007. Its operations are managed from a central delegation in Bangui, complemented by offices located in Kaga-Bandoro, Bambari, Bouar, and Ndélé. The organization focuses on delivering aid and support to those in need, ensuring their rights and dignity are upheld amid the ongoing challenges of conflict and violence in the region.

ALIMA (Alliance for International Medical Action)

ALIMA (Alliance for International Medical Action) was founded in 2009 in Niger amid a crisis of acute malnutrition and rising infant mortality rates, exacerbated by the decreasing availability of healthcare services for malnutrition. The situation was dire, especially following the expulsion of numerous international humanitarian organizations in 2008, leaving local groups without sufficient resources to address the growing needs. 

Recognizing the urgency, ALIMA aimed to establish a new model of humanitarian assistance, fostering an African medical alliance that would connect national NGOs with international research institutes. By 2022, the humanitarian crisis had expanded, with 3.4 million people in the Central African Republic lacking essential assistance and protection, including 2 million individuals facing severe humanitarian needs. 

World Vision

World Vision has a long-standing commitment to protecting children and those in need, exemplified by its founder Bob Pierce’s donation to care for an abandoned Chinese girl in 1947 and former CEO Stan Mooneyham’s efforts to rescue Vietnamese refugee families in 1979. The organization’s mission is to provide support in the most challenging environments, where children are especially vulnerable.

In the Central African Republic (CAR), ongoing militia activity and inter-community violence have severely hindered humanitarian access, putting civilians at risk. The country faces the highest per capita humanitarian needs, with 50% of its population dependent on aid for survival, according to the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA). The situation is dire, with approximately 488,866 internally displaced persons (IDPs) in CAR. Among these, 25% (120,521 individuals) reside in dedicated displacement sites, while the remaining 75% (368,345 individuals) are living with host families. World Vision continues to uphold its mission by working in these difficult circumstances to support the vulnerable population in CAR.
