The GreenHeart Foundation is a humanitarian nonprofit dedicated to empowering women by recognizing and valuing their intricate textile art forms, specifically targeting underprivileged young village girls in Asia. The organization focuses on preserving centuries-old traditions of handmade natural-dyed textiles, which are often overlooked and undervalued in terms of their potential to provide sustainable livelihoods for artisans from traditional cultures.

Laos Educational Opportunities Trust (LEOT)

The Laos Educational Opportunities Trust (LEOT) was established in 2006, during a time when Laos was largely isolated, with a limited civil society sector and few NGOs compared to Southeast Asia. Amidst this backdrop, Alan Shiel’s encounter with a young Novice Monk sparked the idea for LEOT, which began as a scholarship for the Monk. Over the years, the initiative evolved into a comprehensive educational program, including the establishment of a school operated by local Lao teachers. 

LEOT has since expanded its efforts to include capacity-building projects, community development, and infrastructure improvements, such as providing electricity and enhancing clean water and sanitation for both students and rural communities. Registered as a UK charity, LEOT holds an operating permit in Laos as a foreign NGO and has formal agreements with the government. The organization’s work addresses significant challenges faced by the youth population and contributes to sustainable development in the region, demonstrating a commitment to education and community welfare in a country with limited resources.

Lao Rehabilitation Foundation, Inc. (LRF)

The Lao Rehabilitation Foundation, Inc. (LRF) is a non-profit organization headquartered in California, USA, with a focus on providing medical services to the people of Laos, particularly children and the underprivileged. Recognized as a tax-exempt 501(c)(3) organization, LRF operates offices in Napa, California, and Oudomxay, Laos, and is registered as an International Non-Governmental Organization (INGO) in both countries.

LRF’s mission centers on improving health outcomes for Laotians by ensuring access to essential services, including adequate nutrition, clean water, basic hygiene, decent shelter, education, and medical care. The foundation emphasizes that these elements are vital for promoting sound health within communities.

Good Neighbors

Good Neighbors is an international humanitarian organization established in 1991, dedicated to assisting marginalized communities regardless of ethnicity, religion, or nationality. Over three decades, it has focused on protecting rights and promoting self-reliance. 

In Laos, Good Neighbors aims to support citizens by improving access to quality education, enhancing health conditions with a particular emphasis on mothers and children, and fostering income generation to develop skilled communities. Their key areas of focus include education, health, and income generation, all aimed at enhancing the living conditions of those in their project areas.
